To improve the quality of education in the state of Gujarat and ensure access to school for every child, the Gujarat Government celebrates School Entrance Festival and Kanya Kelvani Mahotsav every year. For the academic year 2025-26 as well, these festivals will be specially organized in all the districts and talukas of the state..
Purpose of Shala Praveshotsav:
The main objectives of the school entrance festival are—
- To undertake activities to enroll all children above 6 years of age in school.
- To explain the importance of enrolling students and their parents in school.
- To welcome new students to school with enthusiasm.
Purpose of the Kanya Kelvani Mahotsav:-
- This festival is specially dedicated to girls. Its purpose is—
- To create awareness for girl child education
- To create a positive environment for girl child not to drop out of school
- To provide educational inspiration for gender equality in the society
- Features for 2025-26:
- Colorful entrance festival in schools
- Congratulatory letters and gifts for children
- Message on the importance of education through cultural programs
- Parents-Teachers Meeting
- Address to students and parents by influential people of the society
Contribution at the local level:
This festival is celebrated along with schools in collaboration with village panchayats, village development committees and voluntary organizations. Local leaders, officials, teachers, and parents come together to make this festival a success.
